Large organizations in publich administration are more under pressure to comply with business and entrepreneurial standards in their actions.
They employ many people and constitute important economic factors, representing jobs, income and impact on the economic attractiveness of a location.
Their corporate success is increasingly determined by the use of modern technologies. While the private sector has to react to the increasing globalization, the public sector is on the verge of a fundamental structural transformation: the focus is on customer orientation, efficiency and effectiveness, with the need for new perspectives, approaches and external expertise.
We have for decades regarded institutions, public offices and other public service institutions as modern business structures who have to be able to face up to competition. In their respective national and global "markets", modern administrations come up against fellow competitors from both the public and the private sectors. The demands from citizens, politicans, businesses and public servants themselves increase continuously. Ever tighter budgets and increasing efficiency demands additionally increase the pressure.
The increase in demands makes it necessary to find new approaches and ways for the future. Irrespective of whether this is done through the dismantling of unnecessary bureaucracy combined with an improved service for econnomic or citizens or through innovative technologies - the ultimate target remains the same: transparency, efficiency, customer orientation are the watchwords both for the public and the private sector of the future.
